My nephew and his friend, visiting from college, decide they want to go to Hooters for lunch. Imagine that. It was a fun lunch near the end, my nephew says, “Uncle D can get any brand on any channel about anything.” I just nodded. Then, his friend, watching ESPN, said, “Ok, do something with that.” “That” was a highlight of a punt going off the massive TV screen hanging over the football field at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. After lunch, they slept while I dreamt. Then it came out of nowhere: every fan watching the game at Friday’s, if a punt goes off that scoreboard, they all get an order of the craziest thing on the menu: Crispy Green Fries. It never happened, yet the brand saw an uptick in sales. I still can’t believe it bested 16,000 nominated PR plans that year, but I’ll take it.
