Oh, how I would love to take credit for this: JJ's Red Hots, my smallest brand, has a stroke of luck and timing and lands on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I don’t get credit, yet I did nab a cameo; plus, a Food Network producer told me, "I've never seen a brand this size get as much positive press as they do. We were amazed." This segment aired 41 times, generating an estimated $1 million in advertising value each time it aired. The fame drove business, yet when comp sales didn't align a year later and COVID hit, they only kept their original location open, and derekPR got the boot. I remain a fan of the brand, and their hot dogs are the best I've ever had—JJ's rules.
